The influencer Rodolfo Márquez Alcaraz, known as "Fofo" Márquez, was transferred from the Barrientos prison to the Texcoco Penitentiary and Social Reintegration Center after a video emerged showing him being beaten by three guards. Although the exact date of the assault was not specified, this incident caused a crisis in the Government of the State of Mexico.
In response to the assault against "Fofo" Márquez, who had recently been sentenced to 17 years in prison for attempted femicide, the Secretary of Security of the State of Mexico dismissed the director of the penitentiary in Tlalnepantla and the three guards involved in the video, as well as the director of the Tlalnepantla Preventive and Social Rehabilitation Center "Lic. Juan Fernández Albarrán."
The video shared on social media shows Márquez handcuffed, being beaten by a guard while being questioned about his behavior towards women. In light of this, Cristóbal Castañeda, head of the Secretary of Security, condemned the events and announced that the influencer would be transferred to another prison to ensure his safety. Additionally, an investigation would be initiated for these violent acts.
It is important to remember that "Fofo" Márquez was arrested in April 2024 for assaulting a woman in a parking lot in Naucalpan, and later was sentenced to 17 years in prison for attempted femicide. Finally, it was reported that the influencer had been transferred to the Texcoco Penitentiary and Social Reintegration Center to serve his sentence.
